Programming Hiperface Encoders for Elau SM Servo Motor

Elau Motor

(March 2011)

NDC's dedicated R & D team have been busy finalizing the latest breakthroughs in the programming and testing of Elau Servo Motors

Those familiar within the food and packaging industries will already know that these units are common within the sector, and will be pleased to know that NDC have worked hard to ensure that there is now a solution when a failure occurs.

NDC's R & D Engineering Manager, outlines the problem: "These motors use a hiperface encoder which carries an eeprom which contains motor data that the drive utilizes to run these motors in an Elau Pacdrive system. If this eeprom is programmed incorrectly the motor will not run in the pacdrive system hence the accuracy of this data is directly proportional to the smooth running of the system. After extensive Reverse Engineering of Elau Motors and the Elau MC-4 drives, the R & D team now has successfully programmed Elau SM servo motors. At NDC we now also have a fully integrated test system to test Elau Servo Motors.

A significant amount of resources have been applied to this project and allied to our Test-Diagnose-Repair-Test Solution, we now have the capability to successfully program and test these motors.
